Race at RCM last Sunday
had a Great time, I could done lot better.
I made a single set up change since great runs I had in RCM last week, Fr riding height.
I had 5.7 FR and 5.5 Rear in last week and ran great. but this time I got over confidence and lowered front to 5.3mm and kept rear at 5.5, wanting some more steering.
but that hurt me bad and didnt realized what s going on till today, cuz that track have inconsistent low to no grips, having lower made hard to drive and as traction comes up in some part of the track car get even harder to drive as day goes by.
as of results my best run was 1st one I was on pace for 24/5:06 which can be on top 5 of the race but I pushed too hard to crashed real hard in last 2lap ended with a broken rear a-arm.
after that run I was in low-mein eating heat, but I couldn't better my lap times either ended up in B main and also lost B main. disappointing but that s what I love about the modern TCs or type-R , the machine is so tip top in technologies and performance just an millimeter changing makes diffrence and you can feel it.
Love this machine and I will smell some coffee next time when I go to race(s)
see ya all out door soon!

type-R ran good yesterday at RCM
I'm finally finding a handle on the Carpet racing.
few things I learned on carpet this season is...
- having a good working diff is more important than a Diff in the Asphalt racing.
- of cos chassis need to be tweaked all the time, when the track is loose you spins out or when the track is tacky, your car will act like little biatch.
- get rid of all the compression in shocks, rear dampening need to be about as same as asphalt set up but front needs more dampening and all around stiffer springs. 17.5ish,
- I have to be very efficient on driving line, or very patient
- by the time I learned all that I also finally learned The 2010 carpet season is over

10 facts I learned at the tracks during those years
- keep front riding height always lower than the rear, it makes a car rolling down hill, perhaps save energy and can runs faster thanks for the gravity!
- Don't drop a diff ring greased cuz it will land on the ground heavier side first, always!
- if you mount 2 transponders on your car, you can win any race any day. but no one does that cuz PT cost more than $100 each, $109 X 2 = $219!!! that s why! no one can affor that!
- Gil losi Jr is from the moon, and Paul leumix is from Wisconsin.
- Reason for track pizza taste always better is "Paragon" and or 30wt oil, to see for yourself, wash your hand before grap a slice next time, taste like a soap. YUK!
- reason why we dont see any wives on the track is cuz we brought them to the track more than once during dating period, imagine you wearing a G-string, high hills at track? I bet you will be gone before your main start. not that we want to see you in that way.
- reason why Dan smiling always is he though the banana lube is natural and non-toxic.
- Team associated used to make tire donuts out of stock sponge drilled out with door knob drill bits.
- RC10 bushing (non racers kit) over sold Bearing incld kit (racers) by more than 10 times.
- no one saw Frank Calandra Jr with pair of a Long sleeve pants yet.

Carpet is tough!
I raced at the Sharm for first time ever.
the Horsahm the Dungeon of Carpet racing...
to name a few regulars at thsi place are like
Jeff Cuffs: TQ of 17.5 Rubber in Snow birds 2010
I raced 13.5 Rubber class but with a 17.5 motor, with new Tekin 203 17.5 fast enough for indoor track especially on the carpet.
day start well with so much steering on my car I can barley touch my steering, I ended up with 60 wt oil, 17.5lb spring on the front 35wt, 12.5 on rear. every thing else was kinda normal, low roll center 1.75deg rr camber 1deg front camber etc.
in qualifying I kinda struggled to get rid of steering then in main my buddy told me car ran better without any sauce on the tires so I did..big mistakes..
hes car is a Photon which have lots more traction then my Losi and I had no traction or I should say not enough grip on front.
I struggled to steer in that A main race only to finish almost to dead last.
I gotta keep thinking in combination of everything instead of just narrowed down any circumstance.
another valuable lesson learned at the new place.
I will be better next time!

Going to race at Horsharm! with New wiring
I will finally get to run at the horsharm indoor carpet this Sunday, Ray Murray who organised this "slow-birds" was kind enough to have this race on Sunday for rest of us!
to get ready for this race I 'm doing few things.
but...I can't shrink wrap the wires, I quit smoking 2years ago and got rid of all the matches, lighters and candles!
I'm going to start off with Greg sharpe's set up for the track but that 2deg front anti dive and the 41t Fr pulley kinda got me worried. oh well!
Here I come another roller coaster race day! 1st time on the horsharm, totally different set up! 3 cups of coffee!!
CANT WAIT!

New adventure!
I'm proud to let my type-R fellows to know I became a exclusive distributor for the Sweep racing, well known for their 1/0th and 1/8th off road tires.
me and all my friends done testing for our all new "EXP30" tires and I can tell you this tires we like to called it a SUPER SOREX.
test was performed in west coast, central US, and of cos here in east coast as well.
the home page is still in early stage of it's life but I expect all my type-R fellowships to be there, and make some buzz in the forums where you usually go!
the link is located on top of this page.

Back to BASICS!
Thank you very much Greg Sharpe! you done everything for me that day!
Went to racing at RCM last Sunday came back so tired i finally have some time to write in here.
I had no traction again at that track again, that got me and Greg Sharpe, the Bear all feeling weired about my car, ride height, damping, all fine! but car spins out as soon as I get back on the gas after the Apex.
so I messed up in 1st and 2nd qualifying run horrible time, right before the 3rd round I felt Greg's type-R diff and decide rebuilt mine.
my diff was very lose from 2 weeks ago I ran it like that but didn't rebuilt before this race and what happened was I spun that diff so fast for so many run the diff had no grease on it but felt smooth cause being so lose! it's like having a gear diff on it, only difference was mine had no power going on any of my rear wheels! the gear diff transform power at least to the wheel that lifting!
after the rebuilt car ran fine but while I was practing I got T-bone perfect and destroyed my Novak XXTRA RX! me and buddies trying to solder this RX back on line but not good, Greg sharpe lend me a NEW M8 and a RX for me to run in 3rd heat and Main.
so after all that rushing changing radio gear here at 3rd and last round kinda b main qualifiers all got together packed in 10 car race, as you guessed it. we went to dog fight! we bite, kick hacked each other so bad none of us improved their own time. what a bunch of animals! man I hate all of you! and they hate me too. hahah
here come I'm in 7th in the B main, I decide to try a set of Sweep racing EXP30 tires that I start importing, my car had so much grip and so much faster everywhere I was leading that B main after few laps. then I bobbled a little few passed me then I went Mike Tyson through every corner, FULL speed on that sweeper after a main straightaway, BAM! hit the CRC click barrier, bounce off to the outside barrier SO HARD, I broke A-arm of cos AND A front shock tower!
a lesson I learned from this race: every basic component of my type-R needs my attention too!
what good is low roll center, Tekin 203, turbo this and that! if your Diff is slipping all over the place!! go check the basic components of the machine first!

I know I wrote here in my blog that track's not going to happen and I did say that cause my source is very reliable too, BUT the most trust worthy source is Vito himself, and I know Vito would not BS with us for this kinda matter.
until the track open I'm just going to keep my hope high and give them all the support as I can.
Hope to see ya at the Queens track!

A note to myself
I have to believe in myself ALWAYS!
my opinion first on my work or on my machine!
forget what others saying!
I was at race last week trying out the Tekin 203 for the first time I had my own formula to figured out the end RPM, my car was flying in TC but Friend of mine who suffered in 1/12th scale needs my help on his Tekin. I was going to enter XXXX RPM but another buddy of us who is national level in 1/12th scale keep asking me to enter higher value, much higher.
well I wasn't sure for a 1/12th scale made conformist and entered between number of his and mine on the ESC.
the result wasn't as I wanted (not fast enough)
today I read on the Tekin thread and found out my calculation was exactly correct!!
I could would, should

Raced at RCM yesterday
first race in 2.5 month and the place had no heat.
16F outdoor snow storm!
36F! indoor!!
the track had no traction but their local had their work done and had some traction.
also the freezing car, my frozen blue screen brain caused few shattered parts.
enough about crying.
I did few testing on the new sweep tires and the New Tekin 203 software, my 17.5 duo 2 equipped machine ran in 10.5 speed, it was just insane to drive.
I tried few setup change to gain rear traction but I don't think I went soft enough on the springs or long enough on a camber rod, my shocks felt like a 800CST oil with a 400CST in it!
I Qualified on 4th behind 3 top Local drivers and DNF in a Main race with a shattered servo horn.
they might have a heater installed by this weekend, I will make sure they have heaters installed before make a trip to their annual January JAM on Jan/17/2010

The Power of a Tekin 203
This crime scene was done by Robbie dodge (current ROAR TC champion) he just tapped throttle on the bench for the first time and see what happened!
thats with a 17.5 too!!!!
I tried mine with out a pinion this morning, as soon as I squeezed the throttle I heard some crazy screaming from my motor that I never heard before! I had to let off the throttle right away!
I can't wait till this Sunday!
for other ESC users, this Sunday will be a crime scene!
